the Caped Crusader

couldn't be any worse than George Clooney...
this is a quick (about 2 minute) sketch with no reference, strictly by memory of what Batman looks like for my 4 year-old son...felt-tip brush-pen on newsprint...

Just a little DARK humour

Leon the Half-Goth Prince

side-by-side with his split personality, Leon strikes a pose...or at least lets me draw him...

Weekend Blues

a little Leon comic strip i made way back...probably around the tail-end of '05

I had the name Jill picked out for Leon's heartthrob, but i think later it morphed into Felicia...or maybe just another girl all-together?  not sure...

oh no!

some more randomness

batmobile lost a wheel and joker got away...
sometimes it sucks to be batman.

arty-deco style woman-hair thing

a crane-type bird

the back of one of my sketchbooks

met Craig Thompson @ Stumptown Comic Fest 2010 Portland, Oregon

hellboy: my version

the man in the top hat

one day on the way to work, i saw this strange-looking man driving what looked like a 60's impala...kindof looked like a homeless person, but wearing a suit and top-hat...probably not homeless, but very strange looking.

De-Pressing...another instance of Leon the Goth

Global Warming...

just a crazy little thought/detail...i love thinking up crazy little background items...subtleties are some of the best humour...My short list of Movies with great subtleties:   (no particular order)

UHF
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
Idiocracy
Napoleon Dynamite
Clerks and Clerks 2
Mallrats
Starwars

there's so much more, it's just all i can think of right now...i love little background stuff, and just things you might usually miss...anyway this is my tribute to subtleties...just a poster either in the hallway of Mechanical District or maybe in the Boss's office

The Prodigal Peon Returns

after a long absence...

at some point Leon moves on and gets another job (more money, less #13) this and that and this and that, long story short, Leon returns to his lot in life as a peon press operator...true story?

a corrugated lord of the sith

i don't know if i can count this as a commission, but my four-year-old son requested i make him a lego darth vader cardboard stand-up...

arrrghh...the sun is blinding me...

couldn't think of anything better to call this post...

more brush-pen mayhem

Mr. Grumpy pants

Not sure if he even wears pants...

#13 cardboard standee

here's the latest craze:

made out of real corrugated cardboard...don't know if it's been recycled, but you can sure recycle it after you're tired of looking at it's stupid face.

back in the day...

a thumbnail of maybe page one...well, maybe...

done in ball-point pen at work...yuck, but it gets an idea down

the last panel a little more refined

brush test morphing...

this began as a brush test, testing out a new brush i bought yesterday...i wanted to make sure it would perform up to my high (not really that high) standards...done with black, grey, and white inks...and i used some india ink that seemed like it was almost paint (thick and i loved it!) kinda morphed into a comic...sort of...

of course.

here's a strip...a finished thumbnail...
